Branding Project, Samples

Layering of knits and foil

During this week I have been experimenting with using embroidery and foil to layer up more shapes and marks. I find that the foil is working well as it allows me to layer colours very flat that I would not be able to achieve by knit. I have also been experimenting with embroidery to add stripes were I would not be able to. During my tutorial this week it was very usefully pointed out not to use embroidery when I can get the effect with the dubied machine.

Showing bellow an illustration of how my knit would look, taking into consideration Marni's collection.  ''Just as we've come to expect and love from the brand, you never quite know where one garment begins and the other ends''Jessica Bumpus 2015. So again layering all the knits as different items.

Branding Project, Development

During this unit I have been layering textures using tracing paper, I have developed this below using photoshop which I feel has been working well, I will knit eat section separately that are seen overlapping.

Refined colour pallet

Also my colour pallet has changed from being 'lego' colours to a darker colour pallet suitable for Autumn/ Winter. This change is because the photos I was looking at were mostly dark blues browns and greys, so made sense to take the colour differently from these images.

Branding Project, Developed

Original photos

I have been looking into my photos and how I can layer up the texture. I have started layering rubbing's of textures using tracing paper and found that this is working well, so then went on photoshop and started layering up my photos on here, lowering the opacity so that the textures overlap and make more patterns, and also changing the colour of my photos in accordance with my colour pallet.

I think that I may be in a position to knit now as I have defined my colour pallet and have multiple images to work from. I feel that when I start knitting I will start to realise and find new techniques and qualities to put into my knit samples.

I think that actually knitting different sections of knit, and linking them together at the top will be the best way to present my knits, this will be best as Marni's collection is all about layering clothes not being able to see when the garment begins and ends.

Locating, Branding Project

Original Imagery
For the Branding project I will be focusing of creating a collection of samples aimed suitable for Marni. Marni collections often have a lot of layers and multiple colours from the same pallet.  I will be starting of the unit looking at the order in the city. Looking at the patterns and grid like structures in everyday lives.

Acrylic painting of road

I had started to paint directly from my imagery, but found this was not working well and wasn't enthusing me. I then started to collect rubbing's of textures from the photos I was taking like brick on walls and gravel. With these Rubbing I then started to layer then up on top of each other to resemble the photos I had taken but with texture.
