Connections between Embroidery and Drawing

When asked to create an embroidered sample based on one of my drawing, I picked this drawing piece as it had a lot going on within it, lots of linear marks and neutral colours which I thought worked well together. I recreated this on fabric using the free motion footer on the sewing machine to create circular marks that occur frequently in the drawing. I also bondawebbed circular shapes onto the fabric to add the blocks of colour, all neutral shades like the paint on the drawing. I also added subtle hand embroidery. I feel that I now make the link between embroidery and drawing more then I have done in the past, thinking about mark making and colour within my work both on paper and fabric.
